DRAWINGS FOR PLANNING PERMISSION

Many planning applications require accurate existing-condition drawings before a Local Planning Authority will validate the submission. This service produces existing floor plans, elevations, sections and site/block plans captured from your building or site, drawn to the scale and format your LPA expects.

Drawings are produced from a laser scan or measured survey, so the existing-condition information your architect works from — and that gets submitted alongside the proposed design — is accurate rather than assumed. This sits within AKN's wider Architectural 2D Drafting capability — if you need drawings beyond a planning submission, such as interior fit-out elevations or construction documents, let us know and we can scope that alongside your planning drawings.

  • Most Local Planning Authorities require accurate existing-condition drawings as part of a validated application. A measured survey or laser scan is the most reliable way to produce these.

  • This varies by authority, but 1:100 or 1:200 is typical for location and block plans, and 1:50 or 1:100 for existing building drawings. We confirm the exact requirement with your LPA's validation checklist before starting.

  • Yes — site location plans, block plans and building drawings can all be produced from the same site visit.

  • Standard turnaround is 3–5 working days from the site visit; let us know your deadline and we'll confirm whether a faster turnaround is possible.

  • Depending on your site and project, you may also need a topographical survey or a utility survey — we can scope these alongside your planning drawings from the same site visit where possible.
